***ON VACATION FROM EDITING UNTIL THE FIRST OF JULY.***
Hiring a professional editor is expensive. I’m appalled at the rates that I’m seeing advertised in magazines and on various sites. Below are my rates; however, they are subject to change, but only if absolutely necessary. Please check around. You’ll find my rates extremely reasonable in comparison.
What do you get with my edits?
- Line editing for punctuation, grammar, misspelled words, awkward sentences.
- Help and tips on plot, mood, setting, details, sentence structure, character development, etc.
- I will flag plot holes, contradictions of character, errors such as a character’s eyes are blue in one scene and brown in another, time errors (a character is practically in two places at the same time or traveling across town in 10 minutes when it’s a 40-minute trip) and any other inconsistencies.
- Notating possible conflicts i.e. expressions, words, clothing items, in historical fiction that weren’t used or available in that time period.
- Suggestions for stronger opening scenes, flagging slow scenes, etc.
- Basically anything that I feel an editor or agent might reject your manuscript for.
Please don’t expect me to rewrite your novel/story for you. Editing is difficult and time consuming. At least have your manuscript semi-polished before hiring me.
